Hoard Exchange - Digital Press Kit

Facilitating True Ownership of virtual assets on Ethereum

Summary

Hoard is a platform for creating True Ownership of virtual content in computer games. Game developers can tokenize all aspects of their games on the Ethereum blockchain, which allows gamers to finally own the items for which they pay real money. They can buy, sell, and even rent out their virtual possessions at will, inside and outside of the Hoard marketplace. Additionally, the Hoard platform offers an alternative way of crowdfunding games by inviting funders to contribute in return for valuable virtual items and by allowing them to participate in the economies of the games.

The Three Pillars

The mission of Hoard is to address our three pillars:

  1. To enable True Ownership of virtual content in video games via blockchain tokens: in-game currencies, items, character skills and abilities, real estate, and much more would become truly user owned. Users will be able to make their own decisions concerning swapping, renting, selling, trading, and so on.

  2. To serve as a fundraising platform for game developers by facilitating the creation of their own ICOs. Instead of forcing the developer to give trinkets, toys, and other diversions as rewards, they can instead give contributors actual in-game items and currency, possibly rare and unique.

  3. To offer a possible direction to address so-called technological unemployment. Today, more and more people are selling virtual goods and services. With Hoard, all of this can be tokenized and made tradable in a manner that is honest for all participants. Indeed, we believe that Hoard will facilitate everything from human-driven avatars — adding more realism to a game world — to mom and pop-style shops selling any and all forms of virtual merchandise.
